Copyediting

Copyediting improves your text’s language, clarity, and consistency.

We review and improve the text before it reaches the final stages of production. Your copyedit will focus on:

• Grammar, spelling, and punctuation

• Sentence structure and clarity

• Word choice and tone

• Consistency in style (internal consistency, or following a style guide of your choice)

• Fact-checking and basic accuracy

• Formatting issues within the text

• Eliminating repetition or awkward phrasing

We offer copyediting at 3 cents per word, with a $10 minimum order.

Proofreading

Proofreading catches final mistakes, just prior to publication.

When we proofread your text, we look for surface-level issues such as:

• Typos and spelling mistakes

• Punctuation errors

• Formatting problems

• Missing words or repeated words

• Incorrect page numbers or headings

• Layout issues

We offer proofreading at 2 cents per word, with a $10 minimum order.

Copyediting vs. Proofreading: Which Do I Need?

Copyediting is usually best for mid- to late-stage manuscripts, when your work is just about “done” but not quite publishable. You have a good draft, but could use some work on phrasing, consistency, or stylistic issues.

Proofreading is for “final” drafts, just before publication, and is meant to catch spelling, grammar, format, and other minor errors. It is also great for when you don’t want to change what the text is saying, as in transcribed interviews.
